Centralize Distributed Databases

Combine identical databases!

Usually the databases to combine all share the same database structure or schema - same tables and columns but different data. There can be many challenges with combining two databases. The benefits outweigh those challenges.

Effectively designed databases use primary and foreign keys to uniquely identify information in the database. It is common to use a generated key, e.g. counter, auto number, sequence, identity or custom technique. For example, in a database that lists people you might have an identifier of 1000 for Joe. In another database the identifier 1000 might be for Sally. You cannot bring Sally into the other database as you cannot have one identifier for two different people.

Have you ever wanted to combine or merge two databases? Thought it was impossible because of overlapping row identifier problem?
